01. Purpose
Purpose
To showcase your VR skills and passion, you need an engaging online portfolio. Like typical design portfolios, your VR portfolio will help you illustrate completed projects, your creation process, and your professional story.
In the VR world, this portfolio gives you credibility as a VR developer. Having a website is so common that it can be a red flag if you don't have one.
To an employer, a portfolio is also not only a way to discover your work, but an opportunity for them to actually explore your work. Your website demonstrates your design style, attention to detail, ability to code or use web building tools, and your interests.
To have an effective portfolio, you need to make sure it's unique to you. Your individuality can be shown in the design, words, featured projects, and more.
In this lesson, we'll go over some concepts and tips on developing an awesome VR website portfolio. At the end of the lesson, you can submit your website for personalized feedback by a career reviewer. This lesson and project will not go over how to develop a website - there are numerous methods and platforms to showcase your portfolio. Pursue what works best for you, whether it's using a website-building platform or developing your website from scratch.

Website Platform Recommendations
You should have a unique domain name. This can be your full name or brand name. This makes your website easy to find, link, and update as you develop your skills.
If you have the skillset to build your own website from scratch, that is a great option. If you are new to programming, or you simply prefer a streamlined option, two great options for simplified-website-creation include Squarespace and Webflow. Both make building your own website easy and intuitive, and you can create your own domain name.
There are also numerous free platforms, like GitHub Pages.
